For years now, I have been working on my life as a Purpose Driven Life. I make sure to have clear goals, that define where I am going and why I am here. I also write goals down on paper to keep them front and center. And then I set small (yet attainable) tasks and activities to reach my goals.
1. Short and To the Point Daily Task:
I have set daily tasks that are usually short and to the point. I schedule a time to spend at my gym to make sure I am in tip-top shape. I schedule in time to read to my children so that they grow up with an appreciation for reading. I try to keep my inbox clean so that I don't repeat people's behavior that is draining me.
2. Ensure to look at the task list Daily:
Each day I make sure to look at my daily tasks and be proud of what I accomplished. Not only do I check things off my list, but I move onto the next day's task. I don't see my day as one long task and yes, I do complete them all.
3. Treat each day like Day to Day Task:
What I have found is that each day is the same and it only takes 15-20 minutes to take another look at my day. After 15-20 minutes, I get caught up in the routine of the day and forget about my big goals. And so it goes... until the next day. By doing this, I make sure I don't treat each day as a long term project and treat each day like a day-to-day task.
4.Never skip important and big goal instead takes them seriously to complete:
I truly believe that if I don't treat each day as a daily task, I will find myself moving onto the next task when I should be working towards my big goals. And I certainly don't want to be one of those people that move from task to task because they are tired or busy.
5. Completing bigger projects provides real satisfaction:
I look at each day as a big project. A project that I need to complete so that my life can be as fulfilling as I have imagined it. A project that will have a great impact on my family, my community and the lives of many others around me. A project that will be in my memory when I am gone. An exciting project that I will be proud of. One that I am sure I accomplished and those around me will be proud of me. What I've come up with is a simple approach to setting goals... One that works!
Conclusion:
My advice to you is this... Find your purpose and set goals for your life. And then set daily tasks for yourself that are part of your purpose. It's a simple, easy way to work towards a purpose, and it works.
