Short Holi Story:

There is a symbolic legend to describe why Holi is commemorated as a celebration of victory of good over evil in the honour of Hindu god Vishnu and his wife Parvati. They came to our world on the Khanda (bride) or Karta (son) and hence their name, Khanda Parvati. The celebration of Holi takes place on the new moon day which is the day that gets transformed into the celebration of Holi, as it signifies a successful completion of mating of the Karta, the son of Vishnu and Parvati, to the Goddess. Holi denotes triumph & Joy:

The term Holi denotes triumph and a joyful occasion with dancing, singing, and general rejoicing. On Holi, the priestess, priest and devotees offer all their prayers and offerings to the Goddess.
