On March 11 this year,Japan was hit by the Great East Japan Earthquake that left more than 20,000 people dead or missing. Japanees have received numerous messages of sympathy as well as assistance from the Government and the people of India.The Government of India has generously provided us with such relief supplies such as 25,000 blankets,13,000 bottles of portable water,and 10 tons of biscuits.India also dispatched a 46-member relief team of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) as its first ever overseas operation.On behalf of the Government and the people of Japan,I(PM-Japan) would like to reiterate our sincerest appreciation for all the support and the spirit of solidarity from India.The Japanese people will never forget this friendship.Next year,our two countries commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the establishment of our diplomatic relations.
